All About Me
Having been bought up with dachshunds and chickens it’s no surprise that I have a great love for animals, it’s their character, humour and human like qualities that I attempt to capture in my work.
I have walked a diversely creative path, after achieving a degree in metalwork and jewellery I began a long career in the fabulous world of prop making where I learnt many skills making costume props on exciting films like Star Wars and Gladiator, fabricating crazy critters at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in Camden and painting fibre glass Disney characters to go in their flagship stores around the world.
Despite enjoying the work and the security of prop making the desire to make my own designs and creations eventually led me to start a business fabricating quirky textile creations. However, my love for painting and paying the bills eventually overcame my enjoyment of textiles and I began concentrating solely on painting and more recently paper clay sculpting.
I work in water-based paints and lately I've been experimenting with watersoluable crayons and pencils as well as collage and anything else that makes interesting marks. This is all in the aim to loosen up my style and inject life into my work.
Like a lot of artists my work is constantly evolving and the quest for new ways of creating art is infinate.
I am lucky enough to now be living in Ironbridge with my own dachshunds and a springer spaniel who keep me company and are a constant source of joy and inspiration, I hope you enjoy my work and if you have any questions please do get in touch!
